The Real Reason Weight Loss Won’t Stay Off (And Why You Keep Gaining It Back)

April 01, 20264 min read

Have you ever lost weight… only to gain it back again?

If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly trying to lose weight — only to find yourself back where you started — you’re not alone.

Many women experience the same frustrating cycle:

  • Lose weight

  • Feel hopeful

  • Slowly fall back into old patterns

  • Regain the weight

And each time it happens, it feels more discouraging than the last.

You might even start wondering:

“Why does this keep happening to me?”

Why Weight Loss Doesn’t Last for Most Women

Most weight loss advice focuses on one thing:

Behavior.

What to eat.
What not to eat.
How to stay consistent.

But here’s the problem:

Behavior is not the root.

Behavior is the result of something deeper.

And if that deeper layer doesn’t change, the results won’t last.

The Real Reason You Regain Weight After Dieting

Weight regain isn’t random.

It usually follows a pattern.

You start strong.

You feel motivated.
You follow the plan.
You see results.

But eventually, something shifts.

You feel stressed.
Overwhelmed.
Emotionally drained.

And without even fully realizing it, you return to the same habits.

Not because you don’t care.

Not because you’re lazy.

But because your subconscious is pulling you back toward what feels familiar.

Emotional Eating and Subconscious Patterns

For many women, weight struggles are deeply connected to emotional patterns.

Food becomes:

  • comfort after a long day

  • relief from stress

  • a way to cope with feeling overwhelmed

  • a moment of quiet in a busy life

At some point, your mind learned:

“This helps me feel better.”

And once your subconscious learns something that provides relief, it repeats it.

This is why emotional eating can feel so automatic.

Why Willpower Isn’t Enough for Weight Loss

You can use willpower to change your behavior temporarily.

You can follow a plan.
You can stay disciplined.
You can push through.

But if the underlying pattern hasn’t changed…

The behavior won’t last.

Because you’re still operating from the same internal version of yourself.

The Missing Piece: Identity

Weight loss isn’t just about what you eat.

It’s about who you are being when you make those choices.

There’s a version of you that:

  • uses food to cope

  • feels safer staying the same

  • struggles with consistency

  • turns to food for comfort

And until that version shifts…

The patterns will continue.

My Personal Weight Loss Story (83 Pounds in 6 Months)

This is the part that changed everything for me.

By the time I faced my own weight struggle, I had already been a hypnotherapist for years.

I understood the mind.
I helped other women transform their patterns.

But I was still stuck in my own.

The Turning Point

One night, I woke up at 3:00 a.m. with a clear realization:

“I cannot go another year feeling like this.”

That moment led me to do something I hadn’t done before.

I booked my own hypnotherapy sessions.

The Identity Shift That Changed Everything

During one of those sessions, I experienced something powerful.

I didn’t just think about losing weight.

I experienced the version of me who already had.

I could see her.
I could feel her.
I knew who she was.

And that changed everything.

What Happened After That

Before that moment, I was stuck in urgency:

“I need to lose weight right now.”

And that pressure kept me stuck.

But after that experience, something opened up.

For the first time:

  • I could see what my body actually needed

  • I stopped chasing random strategies

  • I recognized what was right for me

And when that path appeared, I didn’t question it.

The Result

Within six months, I released 83 pounds.

At my highest weight, I was 205 pounds.

But the most important transformation wasn’t physical.

It was internal.

Why Identity-Based Weight Loss Works

When your internal identity shifts:

  • your choices change

  • your habits change

  • your relationship with food changes

Not because you’re forcing it…

But because it aligns with who you are becoming.

You’re Not Failing — You’re Patterned

If you’ve been stuck in this cycle, there’s nothing wrong with you.

You’re not broken.

You’ve been operating from patterns that were created for a reason.

And those patterns can change.

Because of this work — both personally and professionally — I am currently conducting a clinical study focused on identity-based weight loss.

This study is part of my doctoral research and explores how subconscious patterns impact long-term weight transformation.

I accept a limited number of women each month because this is high-touch, one-on-one work.

What the process looks like:

  • Submit an application

  • Complete a suitability interview (if aligned)

  • Begin deep, personalized work focused on your patterns

If you’re ready to stop repeating the same cycle and finally understand what’s happening underneath your weight struggles:

Final Thought

Weight loss isn’t just about what you do.

It’s about who you are being when you do it.

And when that shifts…

everything else begins to follow.
